Beverley Baynes was born on July 7, 1948 in Portland, Jamaica. She transitioned to be with the Lord on April 5, 2024 in Voorhees, New Jersey. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Stephenson and Daphney Currie as well as her husband, Ken Baynes. Beverley is survived by her children, Kasandrah Garnes and spouse David Garnes, Barrinton Baynes and spouse Brandy Baynes, and Candice Shaw and spouse Scott Shaw. Beverley has four beautiful grandchildren, Naomi, Christian, Barrinton Jr., and Beauregard.
Although Beverley was born in Jamaica, she was raised in London, England. She eventually migrating to the United States where she married Ken Baynes and had two children. She lived in Irvington, New Jersey and later moved to Clinton, Maryland. In her later life she retired in Savannah, Georgia, and most recently, Voorhees, New Jersey. Beverley is most known for being an accomplished artist who has artwork hung in galleries all across the country. At one point in life, she was also a restaurateur. Beverley is beloved by all and is known for her bubbly and warm personality. Her energy was felt by many and was infectious. Whether you knew her through church, the art community, family, or friends…All can attest to her loving character.
Perhaps, one of Beverley's strongest desire in life was to be a mother which she mastered! She was also blessed with a bonus child, Candice, who she welcomed and loved. In addition to her children, she had four grandchildren who you could consider as being the icing on her “Jamaican Black Cake”.
Beverley was an active, engaged, and inspiring member of the church. She loved teaching Sunday School, she participated in Bible study and prayer meetings, she helped organize special events, and loved to fellowship with her brothers and sisters of the Body of Christ.
As a proud Jamaican, one of her final wishes is to be laid at rest with her family in Portland, Jamaica.
