Frederick Alden III, age 57 of Mount Laurel. Fred grew up in Mount Holly and graduated from Holy Cross High School. With his love for English he went on to study Education and graduated from Rider University. He then continued his studies and received his master in Administrative Education from George Washington University. He taught at Camden’s Promise Charter School for 24 years, of which he became an invaluable member of the team and made many lifelong friends.
He is survived by Lisa, his wife of 31 years, daughters Jessica Crain and Sadie Alden, and son-in-law Kevin Crain. Mother-in-law Diane U’Glay and predeceased by father-in-law Stephen U’Glay. Predeceased by his mother and father, Frederick Alden Jr. & Janet Alden. Proud Pop Pop to Carter & Brielle Crain. Max, his dog and favorite buddy.
Fred was diagnosed with MDS in May 2022, he received a Bone Marrow Transplant in December 2022. Fred fought long and hard throughout his journey, but unfortunately had succumbed to his many complications during this process.
Fred was an extremely smart and funny man. He was known by many to have the biggest useless information file that was always fascinating to all his friends and family. This trait was especially admired and loved so deeply by his wife, to whom he was a pillar, a partner in crime, and a best friend. His love for music, sports, and fine dining was noted by all, not to mention an enduring passion for literature. Yet another light in Fred’s life were summers spent on the banks of Lake Hayward in East Haddam, CT, surrounded by those that cherished him. Fred’s pride and joy in his life was his children, and to be called Pop Pop by his two favorite grandkids, Carter and Brielle.
He will be deeply missed. Thank you to all his friends and family for the love and support. His legacy will live on through the memories of his family and friends.
