Born in Trenton, New Jersey on August 11, 1955. Helen earned a Baccalaureate degree from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA and went on to become a registered nurse through the MCCC School of Nursing. Helen dedicated her life to health care as an R.N., specializing in medical surgery units and geriatric care. Most importantly, Helen was known for her compassionate and generous love for others, her love of adventure, amazing and forward-thinking ideas, and her exuberant laughter. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Helen is predeceased by her parents, Helen T. Itzcowitz and Martin H. Itzcowitz. Helen is survived by her children, Rachel Pierson of Hamilton, NJ and her significant other, Dustin Albarran; her son, Patrick Pierson of Gillette, NJ and his wife, Andrea Petti-Pierson; sister, Marcia N. Leach and her husband, Brian T. Leahy; her brother, Nathan B. Itzcowitz of York, ME and his wife Lisa; as well as her ex-husband and friend, Michael Pierson. Additionally, Helen is survived by her nephew, Robert K. Reinhardt, Jr. and his family: Joanna Timtishin, Kayla, Ava and Lyla Reinhardt, her niece, Rebecca Reinhardt of Manasquan, NJ and her significant other, Thomas (Pump) Pellegrino and daughter, Lily Pellegrino; her niece, Maya Linkoff and husband, Alex; niece, Talia Itzcowitz, and nephew, Jacob Itzcowitz. Helen was also loved by numerous cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Monday, January 15, 2024 at Grace St. Paul’s Episcopal Church located at 3715 East State Street, Mercerville, NJ 08619. Helen was a concerned advocate for all animals and members of our society who struggle with mental illness. In lieu of flowers, please offer donations to Forgotten Angels Equine Rescue located at 288 Hartford Rd. Medford, NJ 08055 (
