Shirley Chichura (née Thomas), of Millville, NJ, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, on May 1, 2022. Born on May 15, 1956 in Sweetwater, TN to the late Lewis and Naomi Thomas, she was 65 years old.

Shirley was the beloved wife of Kenneth Chichura; cherished mother of Stephanie (Chichura) Michniewicz (Eric), Courtney Chichura, Dominick Green, Jr.; adoring grandmother of Antonio Chichura, Scott C. Murray, Sean Murray, Penelope Michniewicz, and Dominique Green; dear sister of Cyndi Jennings (the late Jay) and the late Lewis “Sonny” Thomas; sister-in-law of Bonnie Tesone (Cliff), Alicia Graham (the late Scott), Sean Chichura (Vicky), Ann Broadard (Edwin), and the late Wayne Strong; Childhood friend of Pamela (Barber) Beck and Goddaughter Theresa (Beck) Jones. Shirley is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and close friends who will miss her tremendously.

Although Shirley was born in Sweetwater, Tennessee, she lived all her life in Millville, New Jersey. She graduated from Millville Senior High in 1974, near the top of her class. She went on to graduate from Cumberland County College with an accounting degree. Shirley also attended Glassboro State College, but dropped out after wanting to spend more time with her family. She recently retired from the Cumberland County Guidance Center where she worked as an accountant.

Shirley loved to cook and enjoyed working at Trinity United Methodist Church hosting the Feed the Community program, where she and her loyal crew of volunteers would serve between 150-200 hot meals each time. Shirley was a former board member and former president of the board at the Millville Day Care Center. Her dream was to move to Tennessee during retirement, and get an old truck where she and her husband, Ken, could sport around town for shopping etc.

Shirley’s family has decided to have a service at a later date, so Shirley’s ashes can be taken back to Tennessee. To share your fondest memories and condolences, please visit www.southjerseycremation.com/obituaries.
